There are 2 kinds approach to understand a system, that is :
Procedure approach.
System is workgroup of some procedure to become sequence activity which have an interaction to getting goal.
Procedure is sequence of kinds instruction use to explain what it has to do, who has to do, when it done, how it has to do.
Component or Element approach.
System is group of some element which have an interaction to getting goal.
System consist of more component, that is work, activity, mission or parts system formed to getting goal.
System Classification
System can be classified from several view point, that is :
Abstract System and Physical System.
Abstract System is system may can be kinds of think or idea, it isn’t look physically. Example is religion system.
Physical System is existing physically system. Example computer system.
Natural System and Human Made System.
Natural System is system formed from natural process. Example is earth rotation system.
Human Made System is system made by human. Example is information system.
Deterministic System and Probabilistic System.
Deterministic system has operated with behavior that can be predicted. Example is computer system with program.
Probabilistic system is future condition of system can’t be predicted because contain probability system.
Closed System and Open System.
Closed system is system doesn’t connected and doesn’t influenced with environment.
Open system is system which have interacted and influenced with environment.
System Characteristic
System can be kinds of characteristic or aspect, that is :
Components.
Consist of som components which have interaction and can be working together to get an unity. Component of system can be from of subsystem or part of system. Every subsystem have specific function and influenced all system process.
Boundary.
Boundary is limited area between one system with other system or with outside environment. This boundary of system makes look scope in that system.
Environment.
Environment is whatever outside of system limit can be influenced operation system. External environment of system can beneficial that system and also harming that system.
Interface.
Interface is an interface media can to connected between subsystem, possibly resource to float from one subsystem to other subsystem. Output of system can become input of other system with interface media.
Input.
Input is an energy that which putted into system, input may be maintenance input and signal input.
Output.
Output is an result of energy that cultivated an d classified to be useful and exile remainder. Output can be input for other subsystem.
Process.
A system may be has a process part will change input to become output.
Objectives or Goal.
A system must has goal and objective. When that system not has target, then operation system can’t be use.
Based Concept of Information
Information is data that cultivated to be form more useful and more values for its receiver. Resource of information is data. Data is real thing which show events. Events is something happen in a time.
Cycle of Information
Data is raw form of something can’t tell about information, then it need to process continued. Data process pass through from a model to become information, reiceiver then get that information, and make a decision and do something. That data will be caught as input, it processed again with a model, and it work make a cycle. This cycle by John Burch called information cycle. This also called data processing cycles.
Quality of Information
The quality of quality information depends of three things, that is accurate, timeliness, and relevance.
Accurate mean the information must be free from errors and not refraction or mislead.
Timeliness mean the information may not be late to accept by reiceiver. The expired information not have a value.
Relevance mean the information has a benefit for the user.
Value of Information
Value of information depends of two things, that is benefit and cost to reach that. An information called valuable when the benefit more effective than the cost to reach.
